Amsterdam ‘s Double band Doubland was originally thrown together at school on the Veluwe by Jorden Dekkers & Roy van Maren. Both having doubled a year at school; they spent a lot of time making music. That’s how Doubland was formed. (In Dutch you’re called a doublant when you double a year). Not too long ago both moved to Amsterdam to pursue their musical goals.
Doubland finds its roots is no attachment to any genre or bands. But some will describe it as Indie, Garage, Psychedelic. It’s getting lost in surfy crunchy rhythm and melody. But also uptempo garage songs about social criticism. This music on the one hand invites you to dance due to the fast rhythmic parts, on the other hand the lyrics call you to think or maybe get inspired.
The 5-piece band plays songs that draw a line about morality, culture, poetry. But also a physical line on stage. Everybody stands on the edge. Double drums, Double leadvocals, single bass, keys and guitar create a refreshing sound.
